  • Little League softball: Mystic rallies for victory

    GROTON — Allison Georgetti hit a walk-off triple to right-center field as the Mystic/Groton All-Star softball team rallied for a 6-5 win against Pawcatuck in the 11-12 Little League District 10 tournament Monday night at Washington Park.

    Mystic trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

    Olivia Travers started the inning with a single. Pinch runner Nicole Stanford stole second and scored on a single by Olivia Carney to tie the game. Georgetti hit her triple with two outs.

    Carney finished with three hits for Mystic/Groton. Meagan Giwoyna singled, doubled and drove in a run. Angelina Doak singled and drove in two runs.

    Georgetti was also the winning pitcher tossing the final three innings. Ellie Hohlfelder pitched the first three innings with three strikeouts.

    Mystic/Groton finished pool play with a 4-0 record, while Pawcatuck-North Stonington was 0-4. The teams played each other twice.

    Mystic/Groton advances to the semifinals on Thursday at Waterford South against the No. 2 team from Pool B.

    Miranda Arruda, Tori Lopresto, Katie Sanford and Sarah Flakus all singled for Pawcatuck/North Stonington. Flakus also drove in two runs.

    Sanford pitched all six innings for Pawcatuck.
