Pawcatuck starts with victory

NEW LONDON — Dorian White allowed just one hit and Brandt Ogden had three hits as the Pawcatuck/North Stonington 9-10 baseball team opened the District 10 tournament with a 12-0 win against Lyme/Old Lyme Tuesday night.

White struck out eight batters before leaving the game with one out in the top of the fourth. The game ended after the top of the fourth by the mercy rule. White also had a good day at the plate with a single and triple.

Ogden also had a triple among his three hits. Nick Larkin doubled and Nakhi Snyder, Jameson Griffith, Quinn Hamilton and Nate Cote contributed one single each.

Pawcatuck/North Stonington scored seven runs in the second inning and five in the third.

All 12 players for Pawcatuck reached base by hit or walk.

Pawcatuck/North Stonington plays Montville Thursday at 5 p.m. in New London.

MYSTIC — Winning pitcher Jason Erb hit a two-uh homer nd drove in three runs as Mystic started the District 10 tournament with a win at Rossie Field.

Erb pitched 4-2⁄3 innings striking out five. Colin Anderson added two hits and two runs for Mystic.

Mystic scored a run in the first when Erb singled in Timmy Lynch with the first run.

Erb hit a two-run homer to center field in the third to give Mystic a 3-1 lead.

Cam McGugan scored Mystic’s final run on a Nick Carney fielder’s choice in the fifth.
