STONINGTON — Tatyana LaFrance Boyce scored 22 points to lead the Stonington High girls’ basketball team to a 60-32 win against Griswold on Friday.
LaFrance Boyce made 14 trips to the foul line and converted 12 of those attempts in the out-of-division ECC game. The sophomore also had six rebounds and six steals for the Bears (9-3).
Stonington’s Margot Calmar scored 10 points and had 19 rebounds to finish with her 12th double-double of the season. The junior is averaging 19.2 points and 18.1 rebounds
Megan Sartor contributed 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Stonington jumped out to a 23-10 lead on the Wolverines (2-9) after one quarter of play and held Griswold to single digits in each of the next three quarters.
The Bears have won seven of their last eight games, and return to action on Tuesday against New London at 7 p.m. for an ECC-Medium game.
WATERFORD — Alex Orf had three first-place finishes and Ledyard/Stonington won comfortably in Friday’s ECC meet.
Orf won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.64 seconds and the 100 freestyle with a 1:05.96.
Orf was also a part of the first-place 400-relay team along with other Stonington swimmers Collin Esquirol and John Moody. The team finished with a time of 4:28.96.
Moody placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:22.53) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:14.00).
Moody and Esquirol were also the two Stonington members of the first-place 200-free relay team (1:53.70).
Alex Green took first in the 400 freestyle and finished with a 5:01.94.
Esquirol finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:36.74) and the 100 butterfly (1:15.46).
Matthew Planchon was third in the 400 freestyle (5:28.24) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:28.48).
Ruby Robinson had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:59.04) and the 400 freestyle (5:33.58).
Gabby Fabian was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:18.06) and Sarah Morrison was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:18.94).
Planchon and Green were the two Stonington members of the second-place 400 free relay team (4:35.00).
Fabian, Green and Dylan LaPoint were part of the third-place 200 free relay team (2:14.26).
Ledyard/Stonington (3-1, 2-1 ECC) hosts East Lyme Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
GRISWOLD — A 20-6 deficit after the first quarter proved too deep to dig out of and the Bears lost their out-of-division game between ECC schools Thursday.
